Lord Have Mercy Upon Our Souls

"Because education is a ray of light. And I want to be in that light."

I'm in tears. And at the same time I want to get out a multi-bladed gelding knife and don my non-existant superpowers and take off for Swat and do some blood thirsty carnage on the Taliban.

The quote at the beginning? Said by a beautiful innocent nine-year-old girl whose school had been bombed to ruin. This child who will now not be safe unless she wears a burka. This precious innocent life who in God's eyes of the same value as you or I, who cherishes her God given ability to learn but is being told she cannot go to school. There is no "not here", except that Hillary seems to think so. She still has not spoken out. Maybe because that little girl is nothing do her. Probably because that little girl is nothing to her.

More women and girls in Afghanistan have been victims of terror than all the 9/11 victims. But it's not here, is it?

Is it?

Requiescant

In lonely watches night by night
Great visions burst upon my sight,
For down the stretches of the sky
The hosts of dead go marching by.

Strange ghostly banners o'er them float,
Strange bugles sound an awful note,
And all their faces and their eyes
Are lit with starlight from the skies.

The anguish and the pain have passed
And peace hath come to them at last,
But in the stern looks linger still
The iron purpose and the will.

Dear Christ, who reign'st above the flood
Of human tears and human blood,
A weary road these men have trod,
O house them in the home of God!

Obey the laws
And wear the gauze.
Protect your jaws
From septic paws.
